CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PROPHET T.B. JOSHUA (12 JUNE 1963 – 5 JUNE 2021): CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION

On Monday, 5th July 2021, The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations began a series of week-long activities that would lead to the laying-to-rest of God’s servant Prophet T.B. Joshua. The series of events was tagged “CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PROHET T.B. JOSHUA – NOT MINE BUT GOD’S OWN”

In John 8:12, Jesus says ““I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The programme for the first day was The Candlelight Procession. It took place at The SCOAN Prayer Mountain, where Prophet T.B. Joshua had begun his ministry over thirty years earlier. Beamed live on Emmanuel TV, the procession was attended by The SCOAN and Emmanuel TV family. In addition to those participating physically at the procession, thousands of people worldwide also connected from their homes, with their lit candles in front of them.

Leading the procession were members of Prophet T.B. Joshua’s household, flanked by his Disciples who had over the decades been mentored by a most visionary, loving and compassionate servant of the Most High. Although sombre, the event was an opportunity for people not only to express their wistfulness at the departure of God’s servant but also to reflect on the need to live a life dedicated to the service of God Almighty.

Shortly before the procession took off, participants were shown two huts where Prophet T.B. Joshua had started his ministry in 1989. To this day, the huts – labelled “The Humble Beginnings” – remain at The SCOAN Prayer Mountain, preserved for the glory of God. Indeed, throughout Prophet T.B. Joshua’s ministry, The SCOAN Prayer Mountain stood at the centre of his life – his living abode and nature-suffused prayer site. And this was the very place from where God took him home on the 5th of June 2021.

After doing three meditative laps of The SCOAN Prayer Mountain in honour of the memory of Prophet T.B. Joshua, participants in the procession gathered at ‘the Junction of the Cross’ to drop their burning candles. There, Prophet Racine offered the closing prayer. Quoting the Book of 2 Samuel 23:2, he said that the Prophet remains a torchbearer and the light continues to shine in our hearts in Jesus’ name.
