The most Rev. Isaac Amani was born on 10th June 1951 at Mango village, Moshi Diocese. He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1975. H e was installed Archbishop of Arusha Archdiocese on 08th April 2018.

The Evangelization work in the Diocese started when the Holy Ghost Fathers of the then Vicariate of Kilimanjaro opened a Mission Station at a place known as Mesopotamia in 1926. This Mission Station developed into the present day St. Theresa Parish. In 1939 another Mission outstation was opened at Usa River and was followed by another one at Monduli in 1953. In 1961, a mission station was opened at Emboreet in Simanjiro situated at   a distance of 110 kms South of Arusha town. The following year i.e 1962 another Mission Station was opened further south at Kijungu 420 kms away from Arusha town. At this juncture, the entire area which was now known as the Diocese of Arusha, was demarcated by the Missionary tours from

Mesopotamia in the centre of Arusha town to Usa River in the East, Monduli and Loliondo (North Maasai) in the North West and Simanjiro Emboreet, Kibaya and Kijungu (South Maasai) in the South. In 1963, Arusha was canonically instituted  a Diocese under the leadership of the American Holy Ghost Fathers. The late Rt. Rev. Bishop Dennis Vincent Durning who had pioneered the Missionary Centre of Loliondo was appointed the first Bishop of Arusha in 1963.
